PIER Chair Announcements

Dear PIER Members,

We hope you are doing well.  It was great to see all of you at our latest PIER meeting at The Scripps Research Institute.  Our next PIER meeting is Friday, April 21, 2017 from 2pm – 4pm at the University of San Diego.  Prior to our next meeting, PIER is hosting the 2017 New Professional’s Workshop on March 17, 2017.  We hope you take advantage of this great opportunity. Please share with any colleagues who may be interested.  Early Bird registration is available until March 6, 2017.  We look forward to seeing you at these upcoming events.

Registration is Open for 2017 New Professionals Workshop: Friday, March 17th, 2017

The PIER New Professionals Workshop is training from experienced PIER Members for new professionals working with F-1 students.  Learn best F-1 procedures and best practices to take back to your school. This workshop is geared towards those working in the field less than three years or new to working with F-1 students and will include discussion on best practices for both English Language Schools and regular tertiary institutions.  The New Professional’s Workshop will be held on Friday, March 17th, 2017, from 9am-3:45pm at the National University Spectrum Campus in Kearny Mesa. Apply by March 6, 2017 to receive Early Bird Registration. Please find the workshop schedule and registration information below:

SEVP Ask the Experts Webinar: Campus Emergency Planning and the International Student Community: February 28, 2017

Join SEVP on Feb. 28, 2017 from 2-3pm EST for an SEVP Ask the Experts Webinar about campus emergency planning for international students. This webinar is designed for DSOs, F-1 international students and staff members that work with international students or emergency planning. During the webinar, SEVP and Office of Academic Engagement (OAE) representatives will discuss the importance of campus emergency planning, special considerations for institutions with international students and resources available to them. Northern California District Spring Conference: March 13, 2017

Registration is open! The NAFSA Region XII Northern District Team welcomes you to its annual Spring Conference, to be held on Monday, March 13, 2017 at the University of San Francisco.  Session and hotel information has been posted!

There are still a few sponsorship and exhibitor slots available. This is a great way to promote your organization’s product or service.

The discounted early registration is available until March 5, 2017. Afterwards registration will be available on-site only for $97 General and $66 Students and Retirees.
